2019 Style Review

Favorite Outfits of 2019

Happy end of the year, reader dear! (Oooh! Rhyming!)

I don’t know where you stand on 2019; if it was a great year, or one you can’t wait to see the back of… I have quite a few friends in the latter camp. I’m in the former, if for no other reason, that we were blessed with a new grandson this year.

Year end is a time for review. If you are curious, in 2017 I shared my most worn outfit pieces and accessories, and at the end of 2018 I looked back at my Favorite Outfits for the year. These reflections help me see where I’ve been, and what has been working for me. If I am smart, I can use that information to improve my future wardrobe choices! I do a business and household review, so this is just another year end inventory. Of the dressing kind.

Last year, I chose an outfit from each month. This year I’ll winnow it down just a bit and choose two outfits per season. That’s more minimal, right? (One of my Fall Bucket List items was about minimizing.) Last year’s looks skewed heavily denim, so I will try and choose both a casual and more work appropriate look from each season!

As usual, please feel free to Pin or share any looks you love, or helpful hints you find, on social media. Your introduction is the best way for me to make new friends… Thank you!

Winter

Already blowing it on the goal of choosing a casual and a work look! But I’ll plead: The first is from Jan/Feb and the second from this Winter’s Capsule. They’re both winter, but two different capsules. That works for you, right?

I’m clearly still in love with my Levi’s. (And I can see how much they’ve faded this year…) How can you go wrong with jeans, a sweater and booties? I am wearing a red lip to balance the red booties; if I hadn’t been going to the optometrist and changing into my bright glasses, I’d have added my red polka dot neckerchief.

Spring

Spring started a colorway that ran all the way through summer. Blush, grey and white made up the bulk of my wardrobe. It felt calm, cool, collected, without coming across as cold. Approachability is important to me.

You can see my predilection for pumps in both outfits. IHmm. That may be one of my struggles with summer dressing… Now that’s something to keep in mind for 2020.

Summer

And again with the pumps…

Blush and white was my go-to color combination for summer. The work version of the left gets a little gravitas from the black details, pumps, scarf, jewelry. The play version is livened by the blue bag and the silver pumps–fun, without breaking the value column from top to bottom!

Fall

By fall, I needed a break from the soft shades of spring and summer and pulled together the darker and more vibrant pieces from my storage box. The brown jacket featured in all three of the casual looks I was toying with including; clearly, Fall 2019 was the season of the brown jacket!

Take a glance back at your year. I bet you have at least a few selfies, and some with friends. What preference trends do you see? Are they doing you any favors? Do they feel really “you”? Or is it time to find some that suit you better? Do you find yourself going on “color crushes”? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below… I love to hear from you!

I’m pouring out best wishes for a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2020 to you, and all of yours! PS: If you are reading this on the 31st, I hope you have a fabulous (and safe!) evening!

Stylishly yours,
