Colorful Capsules
Happy day, dear reader!
I’m working on a few “best of” type posts together for your amusement whilst I take a break. (If I’m writing this, it’s really not a break, is it?) Oh well!
I often hear complaints that capsule wardrobes are boring, because many of the ones you see out in bloglandia are mostly neutral. Maybe they throw in a pop or red here or there, or count olive green as a color. (Which it’s not.) For those of you craving color, and having a hard time wrapping your mind around how to build a colorful capsule, here’s a few ideas to get you started. These are all very small capsules, but they are the place I might start with a client who wants to keep it tight and versatile. We would build out from here. So, let’s go!
(Many of these visuals have been included in other posts, but having them all in one place makes comparing easier!)
This feels like a great fall business capsule for a warm complexioned beauty.
This one has very similar colors to the one above, but a more casual vibe!
Here’s olive and teal again, but this time with grey and rust.
If my coloring were warm, I’d go for this next one in a heartbeat! Ideal for a warm and light woman…
I had a dark haired beauty whose favorite color is red in mind when I designed this capsule…
I used to work with a woman who would have been so very happy in this next capsule. She was quite dramatic, and down to earth. An interesting combination!
This one turned into the color inspiration for my capsule this past summer. Even if this version doesn’t look particularly summery!
And if you just want two colors, because they are your favorites… Why would you waste time wearing anything else?
I hope this gives you some food for thought! I think I’ll re/post some travel capsules next. Honestly, some of these would make a great travel pack for a long (multi-week) adventure!
How about you? What are your favorite colors? How about for clothing? (Clients often give me two very different answers!) If you wanted to build a 2 Neutrals 2 Colors capsule, what colors would you choose? I’m always looking for inspiration; let me know what you’d like to see in the comments below…
Stylishly yours,
Thank you to the lovely Shelbee at Shelbee on the Edge for starting out the weekend right, even if she’s feeling wrong…
