Pink + Green + Animal Print
Happy day, Reader Dear!
Maybe it’s an end of the year thing, but I’m in need of a remix. Taking what’s old and making it feel new again.
I think we all do sometimes!
Speaking of a Style Remix, have you seen me throwing myself all over social media to promote the Closet Play Style Studio? If not, here you go… Stylistas who register for the session beginning in February, get January’s Back 2 Basics–ALL About Fit for free! If the Style Studio isn’t for you, please share the information with any friend who complains she has a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear! A remix sounds like exactly what she (Or maybe you?) need! Thank you! You are the bestest!
Copycat Style is a way to push myself to remix and restyle. It’s all too easy to pop on line and with the click of a button buy something new or slip into the shops for a hit of retail therapy.
It’s funny; when Copycat Style began in January of 2020, I had no idea it would take on a life of its own.
I thought, Why not try some different-to-me looks from Pinterest (and elsewhere) and share how to take those ideas and make them work for my body shape, coloring, lifestyle and wardrobe. (SEE! It was all about the remix!) So I did. And they quickly became some of my most popular posts. (I’m hoping the same happens with #GRWM-Get Ready With Me‘s?)
This month’s inspo?
What elements bind these looks?
Jeans, Blazer, Green, Animal Print Vibes (The green shirt has a snakeskin pattern.)
What elements do I prefer from each?
OMGoodness… That green coat/jacket!. I love the leopard scarf from the last picture and the pink/green colorplay from the first image. How is that going to play out? Your guess is as good as mine! I prefer the more subdued bags of the center and right images. (Not my normal M.O.) Jeans + Blouse + Jacket? Definitely my M.O.!
What do I not want?
The second and third looks feel too neutral. All the color would disappear when you take off the jacket! I’m not feeling the brown booties, nor do I like loafers. (I will, however, cut the loafers in the middle slack for being pink!) I’m not worried about a belt, as no one will see it with my blousy top and jacket. I don’t need a large tote, and am not one for the LV’s all over my bag. (If you are, more power to you!)
What do I own to work with?
When I copycat looks, the pieces come from my own wardrobe. There’s no buying and returning clothing to create these outfits. That feels dishonest and defeats the idea of the Remix/Restyle. I take inspiration and copy looks from what I already own, with my own hand (or my own take)–hence Copycat Style. I’m not duplicating an outfit or a look. Because that’s neither practical NOR affordable!
This certainly feels disjointed… Let’s see what happens when I mix in some neutral accessories!
How did it turn out?
I like it! It’s not what I’d normally choose, but the color combo feels just right for the holiday season and for a little dopamine hit. The neutral accessories coordinate to tie it all together without being too matchy.
Some of the Deets
I cuffed my jacket sleeves back to get that pop of pink at the wrists and opted for leopard print shoes. (Because the leopard scarf needed a friend…) I went for a smaller more structured bag. If it was a tote kind of day, I’d grab my large taupe tote.
So How About You?
Is matchy your style vibe? How do you feel about animal print? What’s your fave? What holiday color combos are you experimenting with this year? What Outfit Recipes are you playing with this winter (Or summer?) Anything out of the box? Do tell… I love to hear from you, and saved some space on the interwebs just for you! XO
