Friday Flashback

Volume 6: Leopard Dress

Happy day, reader dear!

Welcome to volume six in this summer’s Friday Flashback series! It’s been interesting to look back (and sometimes cringe) at last year’s outfits. My goal is to choose an outfit from this week last year and restyle it for 2019. Part of the point is to take note of how we grow and change. Sometimes that change is in size, taste, or simply because the items have just finally gone to that great wardrobe in the sky! A year seems like such a long time, and an instant all rolled into one. My goal is to inspire some restyling! It’s easier when you have the push of a blog post each week. The centerpiece of today’s restyle is my favorite dress, so let’s get restyling!

As always, please feel free to Pin at will, or share with anyone you think would enjoy…

This week last year…

And the deets…

What’s still in my wardrobe?

Everything! But not all in this summer’s capsule. The dress, bag, and shoes are for certain. This dress has been in every capsule I’ve selected over the past few years! You could call it one of my year ’round basics. The necklace and shirt are taking a break.

How to style it in 2019? (2019 Redux!)

Last year’s look is more casual and sassy with its pattern mix and touch of denim. For this year I’m feeling more ladylike and elegant, but still with that leopard sass. Technically, it’s not leopard, but typing animal print every time would make me crazy. Channeling lady boss vibes.

Since 2019 is feeling lighter, this fits right in. My summer Style Touchstone of Soft Simple Drama plays out thus: Soft–lighter colors, pinks, dove grey, natural. Simple–a dress is one-and-done, no fuss, no bother. Drama–Bubblegum pearls, pointy shoes, black contrast trim on the bag and shoes. I’m thinking this might have to be my outfit for a wedding shower this weekend…

And (again) the deets…

How about you? Have you tried a little Friday Flashback? If you don’t take regular selfies, just peek back in your Camera Roll. What were you wearing last year, and how would you change it for this year? A little? A lot? Or not at all? Do share! I love to hear from you!

Stylishly yours,
