Style Obession–Flower Brooches

Happy day, Reader Dearest!

I’m trying to get into the fall spirit.

Emphasis on trying.

It’s a struggle when the temps are still in the mid to uppper 90’s and nary a leaf has turned.

So, rather than swelter in sweaters, I’ll take some fall trends and apply them to my still decidedly summer staples for a new twist.

One of the Fall/Winter style trends I’m ready to embrace is a more minimal take on accessories. Haven’t we already done minimal accessories, you ask? This is a different kind of minimal. For the past 3 years or so, minimal has meant small and dainty, often multiples worn in layers. What we’re seeing this season is big BOLD pieces, worn alone as the punctuation to otherwise simple outfits. (Statement necklace fans, take note!)

Which means it might be the perfect time for my patently fake flowers to take center stage. (In those more autumnal tones, of course!) Yes, let’s talk about my now multiple season long Style Obsession.

Flower Brooches

Why do I LOVE them? They’re cheerful and patently fake. No pretense of reality here. No gold plating pretending to be gold. Nor crystals pretending to be diamonds. These flowers are the warm weather version of colorful fake fur. (Which I’d love to own!)

How do I wear them? Usually as a pop of color on an otherwise neutral top. It all started with a Copycat Style post back in February 2022.

After that, the seed was planted. I started seeing the opportunity to wear this brooch everywhere I went. You might say my obsession blossomed. #sorrynotsorry #badpuns

I noticed how every time I wore one of my flower brooches, it made people smile. Why not dress to make the world a happier place? Especially when it is so freaking easy. Clip and go. Spread joy.

With this jacket, I often wore two, but even one would make a statement! For fall, I’ll adapt this look with a nude shoe, a smaller earring and a plain tee under the jacket.

Want to try the look, but without sending Jeff Bezos $6 and some change? You can make your own flower brooch out of a small scarf!

For summer, I grabbed my flowers repeatedly. They are perfect for adding a splash of color to an otherwise simple outfit. Like this day on Insta. The flower IS the outfit.

I like my fake flowers best popping an outfit built on shorts or jeans. I don’t think I’d wear one on a dress. That feel’s too Mother’s Day corsage-y for everyday. They’re also great pinned on a denim jacket! Or for the more style shy, a bag.

How About You?

Are you a fan of brooches? Would a big fake flower suit your personality style? What color would you choose to put a smile on your face? Let me know in the comments below! I love to hear from you…

Stylishly yours,

In summer it would be Magnolias for sure but in Fall I would love a flower with soft blush but unsure what flower that would be!! I adore brooches worn in multiples that are a bit smaller!!! That’s really me!!!

Oooh, Natalie! A magnolia flower brooch would be gorgeous! Soft blush sounds great for fall; I can imagine you would prefer small multiples–more feminine, less drama!
