Summer Style/Restyle: Vol 1
Little White Dress (LWD) + Scarf
Happy day, reader dear!

Last summer, to give myself a little blogging break, I instituted the Friday Flashback post series. This year, since my posting schedule has changed, let’s rename it the Saturday Style/Restyle, or Sunday Style/Restyle if you are ahead of me on the dateline!
If you are wondering how Saturday Style/Restyle is a break, well–Having a fixed post topic once weekly is a brain break, and Style/Restyle posts are amenable to writing in advance. I DO plan to take a summer break; I’m not yet sure when. I had intended mid-July to Mid-August, but adventures with Mama have shifted my plans. I’ll keep you in the loop. Once I know, you’ll know. Right now, our life season requires staying flexible. It’s a bit annoying, because I want you to be able to count on me. Thank you for staying flexible!
When I flashback to this time last year, I was in the thick of our Capri Staycation! So dressing was super casual with a little luxe and some Mediterranean color. This year, no Capri Staycation. My first instinct for this year’s Staycay was Morocco. Now, I’m feeling vintage Egypt with a Death on the Nile flair. Not sure how that would play out with my work from home lifestyle, but I’m letting it percolate… Maybe it’ll be a northern Africa whistle-stop adventure?
If you are looking for 4th of July style, I dropped that post last weekend!
Last Year’s Look

What’s Still in My Wardrobe?
The list is short… The scarf and the sandals. The dress was donated soon after the Capri Staycation. It was too fluffy and girly for my taste. That’s okay! I found another white dress I ADORE this past spring. (It’s been in heavy rotation since appearing in June’s Copycat Style post.) The bag is no more. I love mustard, but it coordinates with so little in my wardrobe that it wasn’t worth the storage space. Closet space is valuable!
The Summer 2021 Restyle

Subbing in my new white dress caused a bit of a conundrum. How to style it with the scarf and not run into issues with the collar? Tying it around the neck would be too hot with this dress, and looping it around the collar would give more of a business vibe. (Need to remember that for a work day!) So tying it around my hat is the way to go. I’ll wear my oversized hoops (Still obsessed.) and pile on a few charm bracelets to rekindle a beachy luxe vibe! What bag? Hmmm… Straw would be an easy pick, but I think I’d have to go for my pink saddlebag. I really LOVE a colored bag with a neutral heavy outfit!
How About You?
Where do you find your style inspiration? Looking back at previous outfits? Pinterest? Catalogs? Street style? Celebrities or social media? Do you give yourself a hour to play in your wardrobe each season? Restyling and rewearing is the best way to get the most bang for your wardrobe buck. A little time spent in your closet trying new combinations is a great investment in your style and doubles as self-care for absolutely free! Make a date with your closet and get to know her better…
Stylishly yours,

I’m a hoop ear ring girl too! Thought it was only me! I just read your old post on them and that is totally me only I go the gold because it is my tone and to quote you “reflects my hair color!” Wear big, wear small, but 90% of the time it is hoops! Hard to always find them in colors but I do that too! Think they are cooler (temperature wise) or at least look so in my hot TX summer! Find that necklaces are too hot in summer so the ear rings are the way to go! Thanks for all your great suggestions out of our closets! Happy 4th!

Hoops are definitely a personality thing, Gail! Do you prefer yours round? Teardrop shaped? Or more oblong? I’m good with some necklaces in the summer… It mostly depends on the top with which I wear them! Thank you for coming by and for the comment. It’s lovely to meet a fellow hoop lover!
